Arriving at Centara Ras Fushi Resort and Spa
Centara Ras Fushi Resort Review
For our Centara Ras Fushi Resort review, my colleague and I arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed at Centaras Ras Fusci Resort via motorized boat. The island is 30 minutes from Male and requires a transfer via speedboat (which is an extra fee). When we arrived on the boat, our reception crew walked us to an island map, and told us about available activities and areas. We were seated for check in in a lovely, open air reception area, and were told we could check into our overwater villa at 1:00 PM instead of the usual 3:00 PM which was lovely. Main gripe is that there is nowhere to store your luggage. Once our room was ready, a very sweet employee explained the dining options to us, and took us via golf cart to collect our bags from behind the bar (where we had awkwardly stored them due to no storage area), to take them to the over water villa. The main small problem: No designated luggage room, secure or otherwise, for day pass visitors or even for guests.
While there is wifi everywhere on the island, it is definitely spotty, can be slow, and doesn’t always work. If you’re not worried about wifi and you’re just here to relax, then no worries! The water villas upon first inspection look somewhat simple for what I was expecting for the price tag. But once you enter and see you view, you realize you are paying for the vistas and not the accommodations themselves. The villas are lovely. The basic exterior is made up for by the really, truly, stunningly blue waters. It’s like you’re living in a beautiful desktop wallpaper. If you get a room facing the resort, then you’ll be blessed with beautiful sunsets. The sky was truly a spectacle. The rooms have stairs down to the water, which are whimsical and fun. You can just pop out to your deck, climb down your ladder, and swim in the ocean. It’s also shallow enough to walk. It’s so nice to be able to swim in shallow waters just outside your back door. In Room Amenities: Mini Fridge, Blowdryer, Television, Work Desk, Rain Coats, Scale, Flip Flops, Toiletries, Rain Shower
Drinks and Dining
Centara Ras Fushi Resort Review
You have quite a few options for dining at the resort. The main options are buffet, Italian, Thai, or Middle Eastern. If you have full board, then you’re given a $40 resort credit towards a set menu at the Italian or Thai restaurants. The set menu is free, A la carte is pay per item, and prices are not cheap, but hey, it’s the Maldives, and all of these ingredients are imported.
Buffet: Buffet is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food in the is was good, plenty of choices for vegetarians and many healthy options. There are Asian, Italian, Mediterranean, and even American options! There were always at least 1 or 2 well seasoned soups or dishes that I truly enjoyed out of the mix.
Restaurants: They offer an Italian and Thai restaurant that you can use your credit towards, and a Middle Eastern one that you cannot. You need to reserve the day before at least, as they book out quickly. You get a $40 Dinner credit per person to the restaurants set menu. They can provide vegetarian options.
Over Water Beach Bar: Don’t miss out on the beach bar! This over water beach bar features stunning design: the center of the bar is completely open, so you can watch the water and sometimes fish float by. It’s a relaxing place to grab a coffee, alcoholic beverage, or small snack.
***Not to be missed: There are amazing over water hammocks outside of the beach bar. You need to go in and walk outside. You’ll be able to tan or relax on a “hammock’ with direct views of the water, Over Water Villas, and skyline. It’s great for photographs and excellent for tanning! Truly a unique and beautiful experience.
Pool Bar: The pool bar is a fun social place during the day, there is seating in and outside the pool, and the bartenders are very friendly if you feel up for a conversation. You can swim lengths in the pool, relax in a gorgeous seat poolside, or grab your drinks at one of the tables. The pool is not too deep to stand at any depth.
The water sports center is quite fun, and located about just 50 meters away from the pool area. There are quite a lot of activities available for free. You can check out kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards, free of charge. You can check our snorkels for free as well, you just need to provide a $50 deposit. There are other things available for rent.
They have a PADI dives, night snorkelling and a snorkel safari, sunset fishing and big game fishing, fun tubes and banana rides, excursions such as visit to a local island and a Malé sightseeing tour, and water sports with kite surfing, windsurfing, water skiing and catamaran sailing.
Would we go again?
In a heartbeat!
We’re already planning our next trip to the Maldives! But we would also not hesitate to check out the other resorts, which can be equally amazing! It just depends what you’re looking for. There are a variety of beautiful resort islands. Centara Ras Fushi Resort and Spa was pretty perfect though for a low key, relaxing stay.
